What is Philosophy? A Lecture by Alain Badiou 2010

  Alain Badiou is a professor in philosophy at the École Normale Supérieure, the Collège International de Philosophie, both in Paris, and at the European Graduate School, in Saas-Fee, Switzerland. In addition to being a political militant, a contributing member of Cahiers pour l'Analyse, and one of the founders of L'Organisation Politique, he is the author of a number of plays and novels, and three seminal philosophical works: Being and Event, Logics of Worlds and Theory of the Subject. In addition to two manifestos for philosophy, he is also the author of numerous other philosophical works, including: Conditions, Ethics, Metapolitics, Handbook of Inaesthetics, The Meaning of Sarkozy, The Rebirth of History, Mathematics of the Transcendental, Number and Numbers, Plato's Republic, and The Communist Hypothesis.
