This book consists of the first nine of The Words, together with three other pieces, which in a simple style explain profound truths about life, belief in God and the hereafter, and worship. Despite the advances of the modern world, mans predicament is unchanging: death, decline and separation, the transitoriness of the world, and mans essential impotence and need do not change. In this book, Bediuzzaman Said Nursi shows that recognition of God, the Creator, and belief in Him and in His unity, and worship, transform these unchanging facts from being sources of pain into sources of pleasure.
