The Development Of Türkiye's Tourism Relations With North African Countrıes Coastal To The Mediterranean In The Framework Of Sustainable Development

Sustainable development is a multidimensional concept that aims to balance the current and future needs of humanity by integrating economic, environmental, and social dimensions. In an age where the effects of globalization are becoming increasingly evident, sustainability has become the cornerstone of cooperation in international relations, economics, and tourism. In this context, tourism relations between Turkey and the North African countries bordering the Mediterranean hold significant importance. These relations contribute not only to regional development but also to achieving global goals within the framework of sustainable development. This study draws upon the reference “Significance of Tourism Industry in Regional Development and Recommendations for MENA Region” conference paper. It evaluates Turkey’s historical ties with Africa alongside the recent momentum gained in economic, commercial, and cultural cooperation from a sustainability perspective. The role of tourism in driving economic growth, promoting cultural exchange, and supporting environmental sustainability underscores the significant yet untapped potential of tourism relations between Turkey and North African countries.
