Muzaffer Ozak is the 19th postnişin of the Halveti-Jarrahi Tariqa, a lineage thatcontinues the Turkish Sufi tradition. Muzaffer Efendi was a murshid-i kamil who made it his principle to convey Islam through the lens of Sufism. His book shop in Istanbul’s Sahaflar Çarşısı became acenter of learning and spiritual refinement, a meeting point for people of everybackground. Owing to his gentle manner, witty style, and tolerant approach, hebecame affectionately known as the “Shaykh of the Booksellers.” Through thefoundation he established to preserve tekke music, he played a vital role in recordingand transmitting to our day many compositions and lyrics that were on the verge ofbeing forgotten.
