Once Upon a Time Jews Lived in Kırklareli; Story of the Adato Family 1800 - 1934

The story which I will be unfolding before you in this book is the history of the Kırklareli branch of the Adato family into which I was born. This family is therefore credited with half genes that you have inherited from your parents. The history begins about the year 1800, when my great-great-great-grandfather founded the branch in Kırklareli, a small town in eastern Thrace, in the present-day Republic of Turkey. The town is situated not far from the meeting point of the borders of Turkey, Greece and Bulgaria.
