Ancient Districts On The Golden Horn; (Balat, Hasköy, Fener, Ayvansaray)

Todays Balat, Hasköy, Fener, Ayvansaray do not resemble at all the picturesque place they used to be. Having lost most of their historical aspects, they have become small quarters where vendors, small traders and dockers live. Although rarely, it is still possible to see an ancient Ottoman house with bay windows and lattice-work screens, situated along the inner streets paved with hewn-stone, some restored and others abandoned to their own fates.
