Lord Jim

Lord Jim, published in 1900, is the first of Conrads major novels. Like many of Conrads works, Lord Jim is set in a colonial world. The critique of colonialism is much less central here, however, than in a novel like Heart of Darkness. One of the most important themes of the novel is the necessity of mans involvement with and fidelity to his fellow men as in the Nigger of Narcissus, Nostromo and Victory.
